I AM MOVING IN AWAKENED CALLING
“one of the most sacred things you can do is fully be who you came to be on this planet. Fear and low vibrations are no longer allowed to distract your soul’s mission or energetically hold you hostage. Activate your original codes. They are still within you. Spend time in solitude and high vibrations to retrieve them.” -Lelah Delia
dear ones,
this month we’re gathering our focus on moving in and from a position of awakened calling. this is such a complex sentence, let alone a movement practice or activation in life. as always, these mantras always point back to something i’m walking through myself. . .and as i lay no claims to knowing all the answers, i do know the way forward is always inward and that we hold all the answers we need inside of us. over the last few months, i feel like i’m recognizing a new calling and trying my best to practice the art of sinking deep inside, sitting there and listening.
let’s start here. we all have a calling. read that again. i think it’s like a divine birthright of sorts. . .that our calling is the tool that equips us to make the world a little bit better for each other, it’s a connective tissue to the fabric of humanity and the human experience and we each have our own unique part to play.
once you know that, trust that you have one. . .then the next thing i come to understand about a calling is that sometimes we have to first start by awakening to it. and we can’t quite do that unless you’re aware of the state of your ability to see it or recognize it. just like you can’t wake yourself up from sleep while you’re sleeping, unless you know you’re sleeping. . .we can’t live out our calling unless we know we have one and that we’ve agreed to awaken to it and be available to hear it.
a calling is a result from hearing. you can’t force a calling, demand one, borrow one, or steal one. it’s a gift that arrives from the art of a-tuned listening. from my own experience a good place to start is to get still and start the process of journeying inward. once you’re in there, you’re home inside of you, ask the question “what is my unique calling?” and then just listen. this is the hard part. the mind likes to activate itself here, insert narratives wether their external or external, but from my experience the answer arrives from a place of deep knowing, and not the mind. the wisdom of deep knowing sometimes takes awhile to appear. . .like watching the ripples of a lake still into a glasslike surface, so be patient. sometime’s it immediate. sometimes you have to show up several times in order for it to become clear, but what i trust is that your “original codes” will come to you, that no one else can find them for you. your calling is so precious that only you have the message. you’ll know you’ve arrived there if your calling reflects a way that brings life to others; it connects, it nurtures, it aides, it heals, it serves, it solves, it provides, it shelters, it grows, it offers resolve and comfort. a calling has no selfish motive, a calling is our way back to one another. our talents, skills, and abilities are the assets in which we activate our calling.
“moving” in awakened calling, means our actions ferry us to people, places, projects, conversations that align inside our calling. in this way, the intention is that we’re very mindfully making choices to walk our journey cloaked with our calling and allow us to take the next right step in our lives. moving is the choice to take the calling from an internal experience to an external action. most of the time, we get this wrong. we start with external questioning (asking friends and family their opinions or ideas of who we are, what’s our life’s purpose) and then applying that on the inside. the problem with this is, is that often times it’s like buying a pair of shoes without looking at the size and then bringing them home only to realize their 3 sizes too small and then wearing them anyway, for the rest of your life. this exploration of movement isn’t constrained by direction - a calling isn’t necessarily forward moving, it’s unbound by direction. “moving” in awakened calling is liberating, knowing that in the tapestry of your life it’s formation was weaved from the extremely honest and sacred act of listening, that only you alone could hear.
THE WORK:
How can we use movement as a vehicle to ask, listen, reflect, and MOVE in our calling?
What happens when we use our movement to honor this process and help activate our callings?
What new exploration do we discover when our calling is at the helm of all movement discoveries and how does this regenerate the potency of agency and action?
A calling is dependent upon hearing. How can we strengthen our ability to listen to our bodies while we move? Heart beat, breath, sensations of the body, influence of music, others moving next to us. Can we sharpen this sensory skill during movement so it aides us in stillness?
If callings are unbound by direction, how can we apply this principle in our scope of space and our physicality? If we unattached to the idea that the traditional sense of the body was “front” could we feel more liberated to move backwards, sideways, or stand still? How is this a commentary on our relationship to action inside our calling?
As always, mmmethod is a way back to yourself and a way to use our love of movement as an instrument of healing and self actualization. By gathering ourselves (our full selves) inside a movement practice I believe we have an opportunity to create space in which the conversation and listening has a place to develop. i look forward to watching all of your callings spring to life through movement as we share space together, the world needs all of us. it needs you! movement, amen!
