I AM TRUSTING DIVINE TIMING
"respect your own pace, and have faith in divine timing.
what's for you - will be there.

dear ones,
wow, does anyone need this reminder as much as me this month? as i sit patiently in a season with numerous opportunities to practice trusting in the divine timing (of things especially out of my control) i keep submerging myself in the implementation of trusting divine timing. easier said than done, but again it's led me to inquire about how my ideas of time, timing, and the trusting of that variable affects my movement practice. . .and have found myself questioning how can we call in divine timing to our physical exploration of movement and manifest it into our life’s journey and work?
time is such an interesting concept. . .it's simply just a measurement we've all agreed upon to quantify a specified amount of how we recognize the passing of moments. its a metric we've assigned time, but it's long been in existence before our classification and will go on long after. if we asked another galaxy or other life form what their idea of time is, i would imagine that quantification would look quite different.
a question i want to ask myself this month is "what are the effects of time in my movement practice, and do they serve me?"
time is constantly referenced in class, even in its allotment of how it's scheduled. 90 minutes, 60 mins, etc. Often, exercises are orchestrated to the length of a song, and we are often kept in sequence by the timing of the music. sometimes, even the structure of class is held together by the bounds of time (warmup, across the floor, combo all functioning in assigned time portions of class.) we are conditioned to function in the flow of time throughout class, it has to have had an effect on our movement.
one of my friends and cherished mentors shared with me recently (and coincidentally enough I hadn't shared this mantra with her) that one of her teachers told her "don't push the river, let it flow." i've given this so much though this month as i've taught this mantra. i think that phrase so beautifully describes in MOVEMENT what this month’s mantra says in WORDS.
as I consider divine timing, acceptance vs. resistance comes to mind. how can we access divine timing? by not resisting. what we observe in nature is that everything is in constant flux, always in motion. the practice of non-attachment is essential in the application of trusting divine timing. it allows us to move unencumbered through life and finds us more capable of accepting things when they arrive or are taken away. and so we FLOW.
the other consideration i have for this month's mantra is challenging my inclination to RUSH, and to question what is at the root of my impatience. fear? control? and pausing to give that discovery some thought. and so we discover PATIENCE.
these two things, resistance and rushing / flow and patience. . .how do they show up as i'm moving? what comes up in me as i investigate these things during movement? by flooding my movement practice with flow and patience, can i transform my ability to sit in divine timing?
THE WORK:
what if we called divine timing in to our bodies?
how can we deepen our awareness to our bodies ability to regulate rhythm in perfect time. (drawing insight from our circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system that function in a complex time exchange). the work this month is to seek and gain deeper knowledge of movement that’s not rushed by modifiers and external forces, (music, the mind, audible rhythms) but drawing awareness to non-linear time.
WHAT WE SHOULD ASK OURSELVES AS ARTISTS?
- how can we trust the perfect timing of natural rhythm?
- what happens in our movement with abandonment of our liner concept of time? what happens ins a circular concept of time?
- how can we call in diving timing to our physical exploration of movement and manifest it into our life’s journey and work?
- what are the affects of time in my movement practice, and do they serve me?
as we collectively bring our awareness and practice into the idea of trusting divine timing, i hope you meet the work with real life application and eagerness as we move through our lives. if it’s actualization is hard, you’re not alone, i’m right there with you. WE CAN DO HARD THINGS. cheers to flowing this month, not pushing. movement, amen!
light + magic,
kenzie
